Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) contracts with SIL to manage the consumer-driven Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Program. The PCA Program is an employment program. All individuals must be competitively employed, actively looking for work, or be in an approved training program that will lead to work. This program gives eligible individuals with disabilities the opportunity to hire and manage their own personal care assistants to assist them with activities of daily living (ADLs) in order for them to maintain or look for employment or participate in training for employment. The PCA program provides reimbursement to eligible individuals for a percentage of the wages paid to their personal care assistant/aide. Through the PCA program, many Ohioans have been able to find and maintain employment and personal independence.
SIL serves the following counties in both NE and NW Ohio for the PCA Program: Allen, Ashtabula, Auglaize, Columbiana, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Defiance, Fulton, Geauga, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Lake, Logan, Lucas, Mahoning, Marion, Mercer, Ottawa, Paulding, Portage, Putnam, Seneca, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Union, Van Wert, Wayne, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot.
