Katherine Foley – Kfoley@sil-oh.org – Executive Director, joined SIL in November 2013. Kathy has been an advocate for persons with disabilities for over 35 years, working to increase access to community, influence program development, administration and implementation. Kathy has presented on the local, state and national level on issues impacting the lives of persons with disabilities and serves on a number of regional/state coalitions and committees. She is a licensed Social Worker with a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from University of Wisconsin-Stout. Her interests include knitting, reading and photography. Kathy lives on the west side with her husband and two cats.
Shannon Monyak – firstname.lastname@example.org – Associate Director, started with SIL in January, 2014. She came to SIL with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bowling Green State University and has worked with individuals with disabilities, promoting independence and community participation for over a decade. Shannon has additional experience conducting vocational training in computer and retail settings, designing and managing assistive technology and accessible computer labs, and providing support for high school youth with disabilities transitioning from school to post-secondary education. Shannon oversees all direct service programs offered at SIL as well as maintains quality control within the agency. Shannon enjoys being an active mother of two sons and is an avid runner.
Kelly Hickman – email@example.com – Director of Finance and Human Resource Representative, joined SIL in 2013. Kelly comes to SIL with a Master’s in Business Administration (with an emphasis in finance) from Capella University. She is also the current Treasurer of the Ohio State wide Independent Living Council Board of Trustees. She is a success oriented, results driven professional with over 20 years’ experience, guiding and assisting organizations and individuals to achieve their goals through continuous quality improvement.
Laura A. Gold, J.D. – firstname.lastname@example.org – is the Advocacy & Disability Rights Coordinator. She has more than twenty years of experience in providing advocacy, consulting, and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), accessibility, housing, and disability issues. Laura has presented numerous workshops and presentations on various topics including ADA Compliance, Disability Awareness, Fair Housing, and TTY Training to agencies, businesses, and municipalities. Laura received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and earned her Juris Doctor Degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio.
April Holmes – email@example.com – Independent Living Specialist, joined SIL in April of 2014 as an Independent Living Specialist. She strives to teach individuals with disabilities how to maintain their independence. She embraces the philosophy that independence is not always doing things by yourself, but being in control of how they’re done. She is a graduate of Cleveland State University and holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. April works with our Transition program helping individuals transition from a facility back into the community. As well as working with our youth population, helping our youth gain skills to help prepare them for life after high school. She enjoys learning and exploring new things, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends.
Geoffrey Klein – firstname.lastname@example.org – Development & Community Engagement, joined SIL in April 2017. He believes strongly in the Independent Living movement and a style of living that affords a maximum and engaged quality of life for everyone. He has worked as an arts administrator for many years including The Cleveland Play House and Cleveland Ballet. He most recently served as Associate Director for United Way of Ashtabula County and Executive Director for the Conneaut Area Chamber of Commerce. A lifelong Cleveland resident, Geoffrey lives for travel, a good book, and great conversation.
Lisa Marn – email@example.com – Consumer Empowerment Specialist, has lifelong experience with a disability and has devoted her life to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Lisa has been with SIL since 1997. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ursuline College and a Master’s of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University. Lisa has served on the Ohio Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities and numerous other committees. In Lisa’s spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, and sitting by the lake. Her life and independence are enhanced by her service dog, Tahiti
Trina Roddy – firstname.lastname@example.org – Independent Living Skills Specialist joined SIL in August 2014 with over 8 years of experience working in the disabilities field. She attended Moore Meditation Counseling College where she became a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant. Trina’s socioeconomic background as a Homeless Management Information Specialist has allowed her to obtain a wide-range of transferrable skills providing program services promoting self-sufficiency and independence for individuals with disabilities. Trina is furthering her education in Business Information Systems at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Transportation for Independent Living
Ramona Ganesh – email@example.com – joined SIL’s team in October of 2016 as Operations Manager for Transportation for Independent Living, the agency’s transportation program. Her personal goal as Operations Manager is to redefine the perception of transportation services and administer unsurpassed service to exceed consumer expectations. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding the management of programmatic operations. Ramona is passionate about building bridges to success for individuals in need. As such, she is an active volunteer with multiple community service organizations striving to strengthen children, families and the community at large. Ramona is a graduate of Notre Dame College in South Euclid, OH and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. She strongly believes in the mission of Services for Independent Living and the work to build inclusive societies.
