Letter From Our Executive Director Shannon Monyak

Posted on January 6, 2021January 6, 2021 by Jacki

Shannon Monyak PictureWho knew a year ago what the year 2020 had in store for us?!  I ended the year still shaking my head at the challenges we faced and smiling at how we have met and overcome each one.  I am looking forward to an exciting 2021 and although we will still have obstacles, I truly believe that people, families, communities, agencies, and the world will ultimately come out stronger than ever.  The saying “you don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have,” well, I think that holds true!

In the last year, with all of us working and providing services remotely we had to get creative.  SIL started 2 new programs, Ready, Youth, Go! and our new cooking program, S.P.I.C.E. club.  As essential workers, we were thankful that we were able to continue to reach out to so many individuals across a multitude of platforms.  SIL’s commitment and dedication to providing quality and supportive services throughout our communities will never waiver.

I am confident that in 2021 SIL will continue to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.   We kept our ear to the streets based on feedback from consumers, collaborative agencies, and stakeholders and came up with new programs to offer.  We want to be involved as much as you need us, and we encourage you look at our website and the services we offer or give us a call for program specific information, PPE equipment, durable equipment needs, or even to get general information on upcoming elections.  We are a great place to start, and we look forward to talking with you.

“Cheers” to a great year and remember WE ARE IN IT WITH YOU!

Shannon Monyak
