On May 26th, 2022, SIL staff, Lisa Marn, and others with disabilities convened in Columbus for the Ohio Olmstead Taskforce’s Direct Care Workforce Crisis Legislative Advocacy Day. They educated over 25 Senators, Representatives, and Governor’s staff on the direct care workforce crisis. They requested legislation establishing a minimum wage floor for direct care workers so they can earn a living wage. They also requested that a coalition or committee be established to work on solving this crisis that brings representatives from different state departments, advocacy groups, and consumers. #CareCantWait #ChangeWagesChangeLives
