The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability. The ADA was signed into law by Pres. George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990. The ADA provides civil rights protections to individuals disabilities, and guarantees them equal opportunity in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications.  The purpose – to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else!
