Call for Artists: Disabled Women Make History (and Art) – 2026

The Disability EmpowHer Network and The Toledo Museum of Art are now accepting submissions for Disabled Women Make History (and Art)—a powerful exhibition celebrating the creativity and contributions of disabled women and feminine-aligned artists.

🗓 The exhibition will run from June 20 through July 31, 2026, in honor of Disability Pride Month, with an opening reception on June 20.

🖌 Selected artists will:

• Showcase their work in an in-person exhibition (30 artists will be selected)

• Be considered for a virtual exhibition component

• Receive access to two exclusive professional development workshops focused on marketing their art

📍 Preference will be given to artists based in Ohio, Northeast Indiana, and Southeast Michigan, though artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to apply.

⏰ Submission Deadline: April 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET

📩 For questions, contact: KShelley@toledomuseum.org or sophie@disabilityempowhernetwork.org

This is an exciting opportunity to uplift disabled voices in the arts and celebrate creativity, identity, and community.
