Shannon Monyak began her career with SIL in January, 2014. Shannon is a graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. For over two decades, Shannon has dedicated her career to working with individuals with disabilities, promoting independence and community participation. Shannon has additional experience conducting vocational training in computer and retail settings, designing and managing assistive technology and accessible computer labs, and providing support for high school youth with disabilities transitioning from school to post-secondary education. Prior to her position as Executive Director, Shannon enjoyed success at SIL as the Associate Director and has significant experience managing teams, developing, implementing and managing programs, as well as sitting on the Leadership Team. Shannon participates in the creation and implementation of the Statewide Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) as a co-chair to the committee and is also the CIL Representative for the Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (OSILC). She advocates at a national, state, and local level for the aging and disability population, serving her second term on the Advisory Board for the Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) in Cuyahoga County, as well as being newly appointed to the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) Council. When she isn’t at the office, Shannon can be found watching her sons play year-round sports or on the couch, reading, with her dog and two cats.

Kelly Hickman joined SIL in 2013. Kelly comes to SIL with a Master’s in Business Administration (with an emphasis in finance) from Capella University. She is a success oriented, results driven professional with over 20 years experience, guiding and assisting organizations and individuals to achieve their goals through continuous quality improvement.

April Shaw joined SIL in April of 2014 as an Independent Living Specialist. She strives to teach individuals with disabilities how to maintain their independence. She embraces the philosophy that independence is not always doing things by yourself, but being in control of how they’re done. She is a graduate of Cleveland State University and holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. April works with our Transition program helping individuals transition from a facility back into the community. As well as working with our youth population, helping our youth gain skills to help prepare them for life after high school. She enjoys learning and exploring new things, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lisa Marn has lifelong experience with a disability and has devoted her life to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Lisa has been with SIL since 1997. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ursuline College and a Master’s of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University. Lisa has served on the Ohio Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities and numerous other committees. In Lisa’s spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, and sitting by the lake. Her life and independence are enhanced by her service dog, Tahiti.

Trina Roddy joined SIL in August 2014 with over 8 years of experience working in the disabilities field. She attended Moore Meditation Counseling College where she became a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant. Trina’s socioeconomic background as a Homeless Management Information Specialist has allowed her to obtain a wide-range of transferrable skills providing program services promoting self-sufficiency and independence for individuals with disabilities. Trina is furthering her education in Business Information Systems at Indiana Wesleyan University

Tina Hawkins joined SIL in March 2022. She will be one of the Youth Transition Coordinator’s at SIL. She is a mother and grandmother of two beautiful ladies. She currently enjoys reading, arts & crafts, and spending time with family. Her prior position was working as an Inclusion Service Coordinator at New Avenue’s to Independence. She’s been working in the DD field for well over 10 years now, and absolutely loves what she does. She looks forward to many years, laughs, and new experiences with everyone here at SIL.

Pam Hays joined SIL in October 2022. She has experience managing and designing a rehabilitation program for those who are challenged with emotional and physical disabilities and job coaching working with both adults and teens. Pam also has many years of experience as the founder of a nonprofit that served veterans with brain injury and PTSD. She has trained the Department of Defense and was a subject matter expert for the Department of Health and Human Services. Pam’s greatest asset could be her ability to relate quickly to those she serves, and to walk beside them to help them realize the goals they set to achieve. Pam is a mother to five children and grandmother to 11. She grew up and lives in Northwest Ohio.

Kathy joined SIL in 2023. She possesses a BA in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Child Development. She has experience working with a diverse population servicing consumers with disabilities, mental health, substance abuse, ADHD and behavioral disorders. In her off time, she enjoys spending time with family, ballroom dancing, line dancing and attending church.

Trina joined SIL in 2024. She graduated from Youngstown State University and holds a Bachelors in social work and a minor in psychology. Trina is also a Licensed Social Worker. Dedicated to advocating for individuals with disabilities on a personal and professional level for many years, she has been in multiple roles while advocating and providing services for individuals with disabilities for over 10 years including; direct care, case management, and managing waiver and ICF homes. Trina enjoys reading, walks through the parks, and spending time with her spoiled rotten golden retriever Rex.
